Ros\u00e2ngela Sim\u00e3o-Bianchini (Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais), tendo como membros a Dra. Maria das Gra\u00e7as Lapa Wanderley (Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais, Dra. L\u00facia Rossi (Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais), Dr. Gustavo Hiroaki Shimizu (Unicamp) e Dra. C\u00edntia Vieira da Silva (Unicid).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">O trabalho consistiu em um estudo abrangente sobre as esp\u00e9cies sul-americanas de <em>Bonamia Thouars<\/em> (Convolvulaceae), um g\u00eanero comprovadamente polifil\u00e9tico e historicamente pouco investigado. Inserida no contexto mais amplo da sistem\u00e1tica e biogeografia da fam\u00edlia, a pesquisa integrou ferramentas de taxonomia cl\u00e1ssica, an\u00e1lises morfol\u00f3gicas detalhadas, estudos palinol\u00f3gicos, infer\u00eancias filogen\u00e9ticas, data\u00e7\u00e3o molecular e avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do risco de extin\u00e7\u00e3o do g\u00eanero. Como resultado, foi publicado o manuscrito \u201cNomenclatural Novelties in <em>Bonamia<\/em> (Convolvulaceae)From Tropical America\u201d na revista Feddes Repertorium, onde foram apresentadas contribui\u00e7\u00f5es nomenclaturais relevantes, incluindo lectotipifica\u00e7\u00f5es e coment\u00e1rios comparativos de t\u00e1xons pr\u00f3ximos. As an\u00e1lises de evolu\u00e7\u00e3o pol\u00ednica revelaram padr\u00f5es in\u00e9ditos de diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o morfol\u00f3gica, destacando caracteres com import\u00e2ncia ecol\u00f3gica e taxon\u00f4mica. A reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o biogeogr\u00e1fica ancestral evidenciou a influ\u00eancia de eventos geol\u00f3gicos e clim\u00e1ticos na diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Bonamia. Al\u00e9m disso, a avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do risco de extin\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies brasileiras de Bonamia, conduzida em parceria com o CNCFlora, permitiu identificar n\u00edveis de amea\u00e7a e subsidiar estrat\u00e9gias de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o. O conjunto de an\u00e1lises amplia substancialmente o conhecimento sobre a taxonomia, evolu\u00e7\u00e3o, biogeografia e conserva\u00e7\u00e3o de Bonamia na Am\u00e9rica do Sul, estabelecendo uma base robusta para estudos futuros que visam a compreens\u00e3o da diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Convolvulaceae.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o, biogeografia e evolu\u00e7\u00e3o de caracteres das esp\u00e9cies sul-americanas de <em>Bonamia Thouars<\/em> (Convolvulaceae)<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O g\u00eanero <em>Bonamia Thouars<\/em> (Convolvulaceae) \u00e9 comprovadamente polifil\u00e9tico e amplamente distribu\u00eddo nas regi\u00f5es tropicais do mundo. Estima-se que contenha cerca de 70 esp\u00e9cies em<br \/>\nsua delimita\u00e7\u00e3o atual. Os representantes geralmente s\u00e3o ervas eretas, mais raramente vol\u00faveis ou subarbustos, com c\u00e1psulas deiscentes e s\u00e9palas n\u00e3o acrescentes; sua principal caracter\u00edstica diagn\u00f3stica \u00e9 a presen\u00e7a de dois estiletes livres ou unidos na base, cada qual com um estigma capitado. Ainda pouco investigado, 17 novas esp\u00e9cies foram descritas na \u00faltima d\u00e9cada. Estudos moleculares recentes apontam a necessidade de segrega\u00e7\u00e3o do grupo, originando novos g\u00eaneros, com pelo menos dois clados distintos na Am\u00e9rica do Sul. A aus\u00eancia de caracteres morfol\u00f3gicos exclusivos dificulta a delimita\u00e7\u00e3o desses g\u00eaneros, exigindo estudo detalhado das 24 esp\u00e9cies sul-americanas, 18 delas brasileiras, representando contribui\u00e7\u00e3o relevante \u00e0 flora nacional. Este trabalho visa o estudo aprofundado das esp\u00e9cies sul-americanas de <em>Bonamia<\/em>, com foco em biogeografia, evolu\u00e7\u00e3o de caracteres pol\u00ednicos e avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o, ampliando o conhecimento taxon\u00f4mico e filogen\u00e9tico. Foram analisados 612 esp\u00e9cimes de herb\u00e1rios brasileiros e estrangeiros, com destaque para a cole\u00e7\u00e3o do Herb\u00e1rio SP. Para a an\u00e1lise pol\u00ednica, foram usados MrBayes<br \/>\nv.2.7.a e Mesquite v.3.81; para a avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da conserva\u00e7\u00e3o, a metodologia da IUCN e o protocolo do CNCFlora; e para data\u00e7\u00e3o e biogeografia, BEAST v1.10.5, BEAUti e o pacote BioGeoBEARS do R. Foram realizadas lectotipifica\u00e7\u00f5es e considera\u00e7\u00f5es nomenclaturais em <em>B. agrostopoli<\/em>s (Vell.) Hallier f., <em>B. capitata<\/em> (Dammer) Ooststr., <em>B. sphaerocephala<\/em> (Dammer) Ooststr. e <em>B. langsdorffii<\/em> (Meisner) Hallier f. (Cap\u00edtulo 1). Foram reconstru\u00eddos caracteres pol\u00ednicos ancestrais de 30 esp\u00e9cies, integrando dados morfol\u00f3gicos e moleculares, revelando adapta\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas in\u00e9ditas com relev\u00e2ncia taxon\u00f4mica (Cap\u00edtulo 2). A reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o biogeogr\u00e1fica ancestral, com base em estimativas de tempo de diverg\u00eancia, mostrou influ\u00eancia de eventos geol\u00f3gicos e clim\u00e1ticos na evolu\u00e7\u00e3o de <em>Bonamia<\/em>, com o Cerrado como importante centro de diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o (Cap\u00edtulo 3). O risco de extin\u00e7\u00e3o das 17 esp\u00e9cies e duas variedades brasileiras foi avaliado em parceria com o CNCFlora, subsidiando a\u00e7\u00f5es de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o (Cap\u00edtulo 4). O estudo estabelece uma base s\u00f3lida para investiga\u00e7\u00f5es futuras mais aprofundadas em conserva\u00e7\u00e3o, rela\u00e7\u00f5es filogen\u00e9ticas, evolu\u00e7\u00e3o morfol\u00f3gica e padr\u00f5es de distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica do grupo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Palavras-Chave:<\/strong> Cerrado, esp\u00e9cies raras, filogenia, flora brasileira; taxonomia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The genus <em>Bonamia Thouar<\/em>s (Convolvulaceae) is demonstrably polyphyletic and widely distributed in tropical regions worldwide. It is estimated to comprise about 70 species under its current delimitation. Representatives are generally erect herbs, more rarely twining or subshrubs, with dehiscent capsules and non-accrescent sepals; its main diagnostic feature is the presence of two styles, free or basally united, each with a capitate stigma. Still poorly studied, 17 new species have been described in the last decade. Recent molecular studies point to the need for segregation of the group, leading to new genera, with at least two distinct clades occurring in South America. The lack of exclusive morphological traits hampers the delimitation of these genera, requiring in-depth study of the 24 South American species, 18 of which occur in Brazil, representing a significant contribution to the national flora. This study aims to investigate the South American representatives of <em>Bonamia<\/em>, focusing on biogeography, evolution of pollen traits, and conservation assessment, expanding taxonomic and phylogenetic knowledge. A total of 612 specimens<br \/>\nfrom Brazilian and foreign herbaria were analyzed, with emphasis on the SP Herbarium collection. For pollen evolution analysis, MrBayes v.2.7.a and Mesquite v.3.81 were used; for conservation assessment, the IUCN methodology and CNCFlora workflow; and for dating and biogeography, BEAST v1.10.5, BEAUti, and the BioGeoBEARS package in R. Lectotypifications and nomenclatural notes were carried out for <em>B. agrostopolis<\/em> (Vell.) Hallier f., <em>B. capitata<\/em> (Dammer) Ooststr., <em>B. sphaerocephala<\/em> (Dammer) Ooststr., and <em>B. langsdorffii<\/em> (Meisner) Hallier f. (Chapter 1). Ancestral pollen traits of 30 species were reconstructed by integrating morphological and molecular data, revealing previously undocumented ecological adaptations with taxonomic relevance (Chapter 2).<br \/>\nAncestral biogeographic reconstruction, based on divergence time estimates, revealed the influence of geological and climatic events in the evolution of Bonamia, with the Cerrado emerging as a key diversification center (Chapter 3). The extinction risk of the 17 Brazilian species and two varieties was assessed in collaboration with CNCFlora, supporting conservation strategies (Chapter 4).
