Devido \u00e0 \u00e1gua ser um recurso abundante na regi\u00e3o, outros fatores como, por exemplo, os est\u00e1gios sucessionais das esp\u00e9cies podem explicar melhor a diferen\u00e7a interespec\u00edfica na produtividade das arb\u00f3reas.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Aspectos funcionais da nerva\u00e7\u00e3o foliar de esp\u00e9cies arb\u00f3reas da Mata Atl\u00e2ntica, SP<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span id=\"page18R_mcid1\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Works concerning tropical forests have improved knowledge about their role in worldwide<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">biodiversity conservancy and source of environmental services essential to human life. In this<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">context, Atlantic Forest (AF) has a remarkable importance in Brazil. The<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">forest<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">has<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">suffered<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">intense<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">exploitation<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">since the first arrival of Europeans, consequently it<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">exhibits<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">distinct levels<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">human disturbance<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">. Tree species are of remarkable importance for the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">forest<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">environmental<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">services<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">maintenance, they significantly pa<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">rticipate of the water cycle and the Earth primary<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">productivity. The vein organization pattern (venation)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">worth<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">attention because it is closed<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">related to carbon metabolism and water relations in plants. Venation affects water conductibility<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and photosynthe<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">tic efficiency in<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">leaves;<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">thus,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">it has<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">been<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">used to predict physiological<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">proprieties of leaf. Recent studies<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ha<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ve<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">investigate<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">d<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">if veins have a central role in leaf economic<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">spectrum (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">LES<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">), which consists in some plant traits, whereas mass\/area ratio (LMA) is possibly<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the most important, capable to indicate if a species or functional group has high productivity<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and low lifespan or low productivity and high lifespan. Moreover, venation may<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">be useful to<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">proxy environment water conditions of plants offering a predictive approach based in leaf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">architecture. Nesse co<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ntexto, a Mata Atl\u00e2ntica (MA) merece destaque<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">no Brasil. A floresta sofreu intensa explora\u00e7\u00e3o desde a primeira chegada dos europeus,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">consequentemente, exibe n\u00edveis distintos de perturba\u00e7\u00e3o antr\u00f3pica. As esp\u00e9cies arb\u00f3reas s\u00e3o de<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">not\u00e1vel import\u00e2ncia para a m<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">anuten\u00e7\u00e3o da floresta e dos servi\u00e7os ambientais, participando<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">significativamente do ciclo da \u00e1gua e da produtividade prim\u00e1ria da Terra. A nerva\u00e7\u00e3o afeta a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">condutividade da \u00e1gua na folha e a efici\u00eancia fotossint\u00e9tica nas folhas, sendo utilizada para<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">prever propriedades fisiol\u00f3gicas das folhas. Estudos recentes investigaram se as nervuras t<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u00eam<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">um<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">papel<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">central<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">no<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">espectro econ\u00f4mico das<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">folhas (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">EEF<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">), que consiste em<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">algumas<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">caracter\u00edsticas das plantas, enquanto a raz\u00e3o massa\/\u00e1rea<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">foliar<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(LMA) \u00e9 possivelmente a mais<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">importante, capaz de indicar se uma esp\u00e9cie ou grupo funcional tem alta produti<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">vidade e baixa<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">longevidade<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ou<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">o inverso<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">. Al\u00e9m disso, a nerva\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser \u00fatil para avaliar as condi\u00e7\u00f5es<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">h\u00eddricas do ambiente das plantas, oferecendo uma abordagem preditiva baseada na arquitetura<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">das folhas. Portanto, a fim de entender o papel da nerva\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">no EE<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">F<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">e os efeitos da perturba\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">em esp\u00e9cies e grupos funcionais da MA, o objetivo deste trabalho \u00e9 estudar caracter\u00edsticas da<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">nerva\u00e7\u00e3o relacionadas \u00e0 densidade de nervuras (DV) ao longo de um gradiente de perturba\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">e suas associa\u00e7\u00f5es com as caracter\u00eds<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ticas funcionais da economia das plantas em esp\u00e9cies<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">arb\u00f3reas dominantes de quatro parcelas permanentes do Projeto Tem\u00e1tico Biota \/ FAPESP <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u201cECOFOR (n\u00ba 12 \/ 51872<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5), sendo duas \u00e1reas de florestas maduras e duas \u00e1reas de florestas<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">secund\u00e1rias. Os resultados<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">obtidos indicam que a geometria da nerva\u00e7\u00e3o foliar e n\u00e3o a <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">densidade de nervuras representa a principal propriedade anat\u00f4mica foliar capaz de distinguir<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">as comunidades arb\u00f3reas estudadas: as comunidades florestais mais avan\u00e7adas na sucess\u00e3o <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page17R_mcid0\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">foram caracter<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">izadas por reduzida dist\u00e2ncia entre nervuras, o que pode resultar em baixas taxas<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">de trocas gasosas, enquanto florestas secund\u00e1rias apresentaram duas estrat\u00e9gias funcionais:<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">maior n\u00famero de termina\u00e7\u00f5es livres, potencializando o suprimento de \u00e1gua para os t<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ecidos; e<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">maior reticula\u00e7\u00e3o conferindo maior equaliza\u00e7\u00e3o na distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua pela l\u00e2mina foliar e<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">resist\u00eancia a danos.
