Luciana Retz de Carvalho do N\u00facleo de Pesquisa em Ficologia (Instituto de Bot\u00e2nica &#8211; IBt), e contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o da Dra. Aline Paternostro Martins (Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo &#8211; USP), do Dr. Levi Pompermayer Machado (Universidade Estadual Paulista &#8211; J\u00falio de Mesquita Filho \u2013 UNESP), da Dra. Andr\u00e9a Tucci (N\u00facleo de Pesquisa em Ficologia (Instituto de Bot\u00e2nica &#8211; IBt).<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Macroalgas e poluentes marinhos: estudo dos extratos apolares de <em>Dichotomaria marginata<\/em>, <em>Acanthophora spicifera<\/em>, <em>Cladophora prolifera<\/em>, <em>Lobophora variegata<\/em>; identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de sesquiterpenos em <em>Dictyopteris delicatula<\/em><\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Marine macroalgae so far\u00a0were been considered pollution indicators only regarding their population increase or decrease, in polluted environments. However, our studies attest that they may accumulate dissolved or suspended substances in the aquatic environment. Twenty two pollutants have been identified, by gas chromatography\/mass spectrometry (GC\/MS), and 16, by high &#8211; performance liquid chromatography\/mass spectrometry (HPLC\/MS) in the hexane extract of the seaweed <em>Dichotomatia marginata<\/em> (J. Ellis &amp; Solander) Lamarck, collected at Fortaleza Beach, Ubatuba, S\u00e3o Paulo. Both chromatographic techniques proved to be useful tools in the identification of contaminants desorbed from this algae tallus. which can be considered a valuable pollution indicator for the marine environment. The survey that was made regarding the aquatic pollutants presents their names, molecular masses, formulas, and sites where they were found. Among these contaminants are drugs of abuse, hygiene and personal care products, and substances used in industry and agriculture. Many them are not included in water monitoring programs, norms and environmental control legislation. Moreover, by the same technique (CG\/MS), 13 sesquiterpenes, belonging to the cadalane class, were identified in the <em>Dictyopteris delicatula<\/em> J.V. Lamouroux hexane extract; this study has effectively contributed to the knowledge of the Dictyotaceae family terpenoma. The hexane and dichloromethane extract&#8217;s constituents\u00a0of the macroalgae <em>Acanthophora spicifera <\/em>(M.Vahl) B\u00f8rgesen<em>, Cladophora prolifera <\/em>(Roth) K\u00fctzing, and <em>Lobophora variegate<\/em> (J.V.Lamouroux) Womersley ex E.C.Oliveira were investigated using GC\/MS, as well. These three algae belong to different taxa, were collected in different Brazilian coastal regions and due to the nature of the polymers that make up their tallus, are able to retain and accumulate pollutants which are dispersed into the aquatic environments. Fifty-one contaminants were extracted from them and identified. The results of this study substantiate the potential application of macroalgae as pollutant indicators in the environment where they live. Also, by recognizing many of its constituents, they expand the knowledge of the chemical diversity of Brazilian macroalgae.<br \/>\nKeywords: pollution bioindicators, aquatic contaminants, adsorption, algal metabolites<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As macroalgas marinhas eram apontadas como bioindicadoras de polui\u00e7\u00e3o com base apenas no aumento ou na diminui\u00e7\u00e3o de suas popula\u00e7\u00f5es em ambientes contaminados. Contudo, nossos estudos atestam que podem acumular subst\u00e2ncias dissolvidas ou suspensas no ambiente aqu\u00e1tico. Em estudo do extrato hex\u00e2nico da alga vermelha <em>Dichotomatia marginata<\/em> (J. Ellis &amp; Solander) Lamarck, coletada na Praia de Fortaleza, Ubatuba, S\u00e3o Paulo, foram identificados, por cromatografia gasosa\/espectrometria de massas (CG\/EM), 22 poluentes e por cromatografia l\u00edquida de alta efici\u00eancia\/espectrometria de massas, 16 poluentes. Ambas as t\u00e9cnicas mostraram-se ferramentas \u00fateis na identifica\u00e7\u00e3o dos contaminantes dessorvidos do talo dessa alga, a qual pode ser considerada um valioso indicador de polui\u00e7\u00e3o do ambiente marinho. No indispens\u00e1vel levantamento dos poluentes aqu\u00e1ticos aqui apresentados, est\u00e3o compilados as classes a que pertencem, f\u00f3rmulas, massas moleculares e locais em que foram encontrados.\u00a0 Entre eles est\u00e3o f\u00e1rmacos e drogas de abuso, produtos de higiene e cuidados pessoais e subst\u00e2ncias empregadas na ind\u00fastria e agricultura. Muitos desses poluentes n\u00e3o constam em programas de monitoramento de \u00e1gua, normativas e legisla\u00e7\u00f5es de controle ambiental. Tamb\u00e9m, pela t\u00e9cnica de CG\/EM, foram identificados 13 sesquiterpenos, pertencentes a classe dos cadalanos, no extrato hex\u00e2nico de <em>Dictyopteris<\/em> <em>delicatula <\/em>J.V. Lamouroux, estudo que contribuiu efetivamente para o conhecimento do terpenoma da fam\u00edlia Dictyotaceae.\u00a0 Ainda utilizando CG\/EM, foram investigadas as subst\u00e2ncias encontradas nos extratos hex\u00e2nicos e em diclorometano das macroalgas <em>Acanthophora spicifera <\/em>(M.Vahl) B\u00f8rgesen, <em>Cladophora prolifera <\/em>(Roth) K\u00fctzing e <em>Lobophora variegata <\/em>(J.V.Lamouroux) Womersley ex E.C.Oliveira. Esses organismos s\u00e3o pertencentes a diferentes taxa, foram coletadas em diferentes regi\u00f5es litor\u00e2neas brasileiras e devido \u00e0 natureza dos pol\u00edmeros que comp\u00f5em os seus talos, s\u00e3o capazes de reter e acumular poluentes dispersos nos ambientes aqu\u00e1ticos. Delas foram extra\u00eddos e identificados 51 contaminantes. Esses estudos embasam o conceito de que macroalgas s\u00e3o indicadoras da presen\u00e7a de poluentes no meio em que vivem.
