A banca examinadora foi presidida pelo seu orientador, PqC. Dr. Eduardo Pereira Cabral Gomes e composta pela Prof. Dra. Sueli Angelo Furlan (P\u00f3s Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Geografia F\u00edsica \u2013 USP) e pela PqC. Dr. Eduardo Luis Martins Catharino (PVA \u2013 IBt\/SP).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">A flora urbana apresenta fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o original com esp\u00e9cies ex\u00f3ticas e nativas. A mata Mata do Instituto Butantan \u00e9 um desses fragmentos dentre de uma mancha urbana no mun\u00edcipio de S\u00e3o Paulo. Essa vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o foi submetida a processos secund\u00e1rios devido a a\u00e7\u00f5es antr\u00f3picas.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Estrutura e Composi\u00e7\u00e3o Flor\u00edstica de Fragmento de Mata Atl\u00e2ntica em S\u00e3o Paulo, SP, Brasil<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Brazilian Atlantic Forest is among the most endangered forests in the world, has a high number of endemic species, is biologically rich and, for all these reasons, is considered as hotspots of megadiversity. Due industrial expansion, urbanization and increase in areas used in agriculture and livestock, this vegetation has been reducing in Brazil, especially in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, where the reduction represents 87% of the original forest. The city of S\u00e3o Paulo is one of the largest and most complex urban spots and that is why it presents fragmentation of the original vegetation with native and exotic species in the urban flora. This vegetation was submitted to secondary successional processes due to anthropic actions. The object of this research is the forest of Butantan Institute, S\u00e3o Paulo, SP, in which three sections with different disturbance histories were studied in relation to the floristic and structural composition of the vegetation The hypotheses of this work were: i) Different histories of perturbation lead to different successional trajectories and ii) Presence of exotic species influences the structure of the studied sections. The sampled sections present different successional trajectories, show low richness and low diversity of species that is, the exotic species present certainly have a lot of influence. In all the sections were found two exotic species <em>Archontophoenix cunninghamiana<\/em> and <em>Coffea arabica<\/em>, both in large numbers of individuals. These exotic species appear more easily in places of low diversity or due to anthropogenic disturbances. \u00a0We can suppose that the propagules spreads of these exotic species in the forest of Insituto Butantan is its proximity to the Forest Reserve &#8220;Armando de Salles Oliveira&#8221; in the campus of USP and other places, that is, the planting of these species may have contributed to the spread. One of the objectives is precisely to relate this composition in the sections of this forest, whose basal area is considered smaller when related to other studied areas. Research data show the need for better conservation and management of this type of areas.<br \/>\n<strong>Keywords<\/strong>: conservation, molecular analyses, phylogeny, taxonomy, Urticineae<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A Mata Atl\u00e2ntica brasileira est\u00e1 entre as florestas mais amea\u00e7adas do mundo, possui elevado n\u00famero de esp\u00e9cies end\u00eamicas, grande riqueza biol\u00f3gica e, por esses motivos \u00e9 considerada um <em>hotspots <\/em>de megadiversidade. Com a expans\u00e3o industrial, a urbaniza\u00e7\u00e3o e, o aumento da \u00e1rea de planta\u00e7\u00f5es e pastagens, essa vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o vem se reduzindo em todo o Brasil, especialmente no estado de S\u00e3o Paulo, onde tal redu\u00e7\u00e3o representa 87% da mata original. O munic\u00edpio de S\u00e3o Paulo \u00e9 uma das maiores e mais complexas manchas urbanas e, por esse motivo, apresenta fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o original com esp\u00e9cies nativas e ex\u00f3ticas na flora urbana. Essa vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o foi submetida a processos sucessionais secund\u00e1rios devido a a\u00e7\u00f5es antr\u00f3picas. A pesquisa deste trabalho est\u00e1 baseada na mata do Instituto Butantan, S\u00e3o Paulo, SP, na qual tr\u00eas trechos com diferentes hist\u00f3ricos de perturba\u00e7\u00e3o foram estudados com rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 composi\u00e7\u00e3o flor\u00edstica e estrutural da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o. As hip\u00f3teses desse trabalho foram: i) Diferentes hist\u00f3rias de perturba\u00e7\u00e3o levam a trajet\u00f3rias sucessionais diferentes e ii) A presen\u00e7a de esp\u00e9cies ex\u00f3ticas influencia a estrutura dos trechos estudados. Os trechos amostrados apresentam diferentes trajet\u00f3rias sucessionais, mostram baixa riqueza e baixa diversidade de esp\u00e9cies, o que leva \u00e0 conclus\u00e3o de que as esp\u00e9cies ex\u00f3ticas presentes t\u00eam grande influ\u00eancia. Em todos os trechos encontrou-se duas esp\u00e9cies ex\u00f3ticas <em>Archontophoenix cunninghamiana<\/em> e <em>Coffea arabica<\/em>, ambas em grande n\u00famero de indiv\u00edduos. Estas instalam-se mais facilmente em locais de baixa diversidade ou em decorr\u00eancia de perturba\u00e7\u00f5es antr\u00f3picas. Podemos supor que a dispers\u00e3o dos prop\u00e1gulos dessas esp\u00e9cies ex\u00f3ticas na mata do Instituto Butantan \u00e9 sua proximidade com a Reserva Florestal \u201cArmando de Salles Oliveira\u201d na cidade Universit\u00e1ria da USP e outros locais, ou seja, o plantio dessas esp\u00e9cies pode ter contribu\u00eddo com a dispers\u00e3o. Um dos objetivos \u00e9 justamente relacionar tal composi\u00e7\u00e3o nos trechos desta mata, cuja \u00e1rea basal \u00e9 considerada menor quando relacionada a outras \u00e1reas estudadas.
