Carla Ferragut (Presidente da mesa). <\/span><\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Efeitos do enriquecimento por N e P e da raz\u00e3o luz:nutrientes sobre a estrutura da comunidade de algas planct\u00f4nicas e epip\u00e9licas<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The light and nutrient availability are determining factors of the biomass and taxonomic structure in the periphyton. Greater understanding of the combined effects of light and nutrient availability on the structure and dynamics of epipelon and phytoplankton can improve the recovery and conservation processes of tropical shallow ecosystems. This study aimed to isolate the effects of nutrient and light availability and, consequently, the light:nutrient ratio on phytoplankton and epipelon. Two experiments with nutrient and light variation were performed in open bottom mesocosms <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in situ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In the first experiment, we aimed to evaluate the effects of combined and isolated enrichment by N and P and its interruption on the changes of phytoplankton and epipelon chlorophyll <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In the second experiment, we evaluated the effect of light availability on chlorophyll a and phytoplankton and epipelon taxonomic structures, in order to compare the responses as a function of the Light: Nutrients ratio. In general, our results showed that N and P combined, and isolated enrichment had an effect on photosynthetic biomass of phytoplankton and epipelon, especially with the combined and isolated addition of phosphorus, which promoted an increase of phytoplankton biomass. In relation to light and nutrient variation, our results showed that N and P enrichment has an effect on phytoplankton and epipelon taxonomic structure, but light availability has assumed a significant role in high nutrient availability conditions. Light and nutrient availability were determinant factors of phytoplankton and epipelon structure, as both factors promoted changes in dominance and abundance of species descriptors. We conclude that changes in nutrient availability alter the relationship between phytoplankton and epipelon and that enrichment is a factor that reduces the photosynthetic potential of the epipelon. The variation in light availability may have a strong impact on the structure of the algal communities of plankton and epipelon.<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Keywords<\/strong>:\u00a0 <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Phytoplankton, epipelon, mesocosms open bottom; light attenuation<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A disponibilidade de luz e nutrientes s\u00e3o fatores determinantes da estrutura da comunidade de algas perif\u00edticas. O maior entendimento dos efeitos combinados da disponibilidade de luz e nutrientes sobre a estrutura e din\u00e2mica do epip\u00e9lon e do fitopl\u00e2ncton pode melhorar processos de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o e conserva\u00e7\u00e3o dos ecossistemas rasos tropicais. Este trabalho teve como objetivo isolar os efeitos da disponibilidade de nutrientes e de luz e, consequentemente, da raz\u00e3o luz:nutriente sobre o fitopl\u00e2ncton e epip\u00e9lon. Dois experimentos com varia\u00e7\u00e3o de nutrientes e luz foram realizados em mesocosmos de fundo aberto <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in situ.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> No primeiro experimento, n\u00f3s buscamos avaliar os efeitos do enriquecimento combinado e isolado por N e P e a sua interrup\u00e7\u00e3o sobre as mudan\u00e7as da clorofila a do fitopl\u00e2ncton e epip\u00e9lon. No segundo experimento, n\u00f3s avaliamos o efeito da varia\u00e7\u00e3o da disponibilidade de luz sobre as mudan\u00e7as da clorofila a e da estrutura taxon\u00f4mica do fitopl\u00e2ncton e do epip\u00e9lon em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de alta disponibilidade de nutrientes, visando comparar as respostas em fun\u00e7\u00e3o da varia\u00e7\u00e3o da raz\u00e3o Luz:Nutrientes. De maneira geral, nossos resultados demostraram que o enriquecimento combinado e isolado por N e P e a sua interrup\u00e7\u00e3o tem efeito sobre a biomassa fotossint\u00e9tica do fitopl\u00e2ncton e epip\u00e9lon, principalmente com a adi\u00e7\u00e3o isolada e combinada de f\u00f3sforo, a qual promoveu o aumento da concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de clorofila <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> do fitopl\u00e2ncton. Em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a varia\u00e7\u00e3o de luz e nutrientes nossos resultados mostraram que o enriquecimento por N e P tem efeito sobre estrutura taxon\u00f4mica do fitopl\u00e2ncton e do epip\u00e9lon, mas a disponibilidade de luz assumiu importante papel em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de alta disponibilidade de nutrientes. A disponibilidade luz e de nutrientes foram fatores determinantes da estrutura do fitopl\u00e2ncton e do epip\u00e9lon, pois ambos os fatores promoveram mudan\u00e7as na domin\u00e2ncia e abund\u00e2ncia das esp\u00e9cies descritoras. Concluiu-se que mudan\u00e7as na disponibilidade de nutrientes altera a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre fitopl\u00e2ncton e epip\u00e9lon, sendo o enriquecimento um fator que reduz o potencial fotossint\u00e9tico do epip\u00e9lon.
