Dr. Claudio Jos\u00e9 Barbedo e composta pela Prof.\u00aa Dr<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Talita Silveira Amador (UNESP-Dracena) e pelo PqC. Dr. Nelson Augusto dos Santos J\u00fanior (N\u00facleo de Pesquisa em Sementes \u2013 IBt\/SP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Simulando uma condi\u00e7\u00e3o de herbivoria, o projeto desenvolvido analisou o comportamento de sementes do g\u00eanero <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> em regenerar novas germina\u00e7\u00f5es e pl\u00e2ntulas, quando suas primeiras ra\u00edzes e pl\u00e2ntulas s\u00e3o eliminadas. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. candolleana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. brasiliensis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> e <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. involucrata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as tr\u00eas esp\u00e9cies estudadas demonstraram elevada capacidade regenerativa, mesmo que se alterem o tamanho das sementes, o est\u00e1dio de matura\u00e7\u00e3o e a quantidade de reservas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> As sementes denominadas recalcitrantes s\u00e3o intolerantes \u00e0 desseca\u00e7\u00e3o e apresentam baixa longevidade em armazenamento. \u00c9 prov\u00e1vel que atrav\u00e9s das germina\u00e7\u00f5es simult\u00e2neas e sucessivas, essas esp\u00e9cies tenham desenvolvido essa adapta\u00e7\u00e3o como estrat\u00e9gia ecol\u00f3gica para ampliar seu per\u00edodo vi\u00e1vel no ambiente, independente da preda\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Germina\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00faltipla e sequencial de sementes como estrat\u00e9gia de propaga\u00e7\u00e3o em esp\u00e9cies de <em>Eugenia<\/em> (Myrtaceae)<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In contrast to the orthodox ones, which are dry at shedding and can show some degree of dormancy, recalcitrant seeds are released into the environment ready to germinate quickly, indicating that evolutionary pressure has occurred in order to direct the energy to the plant development. Although exhibit recalcitrant behavior <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> seed propagation strategies can be directed to guarantee germination in different times and spaces not using the same ways of orthodox seeds. Unfavorable germination, lethal to most recalcitrant seeds, could result in the death of the first seedlings produced by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> seeds; however, this could not be lethal for the whole seed. Previous works showed that seeds of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> present high regenerative capacity, producing seedlings from seeds with only \u00bc of their original mass. This capacity could be understood as a strategy for species propagation. This work aimed to evaluate the potential of Eugenia seeds to develop new seedlings when the first germinations are eliminated. Fruits of three Eugenia species (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. candolleana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. brasiliensis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. involucrata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) were collected and their seeds extracted. The seeds were characterized for water content by stove at 103 \u00b1 2 \u00b0 C. Then germination tests (25 \u00b0 C and constant light) were installed for all species. The treatments comprised: a) elimination of first and second development according to the stage of physiological maturation for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. candolleana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; b) elimination of first and second germination and elimination of first and second development in intact and cut seeds of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. brasiliensis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; c) elimination of first, second and third germination and elimination of first, second and third development for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. involucrata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The seeds of the three species studied were able to produce new roots and to form normal seedlings, successively, even after root and shoot removal.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The results demonstrated that this regenerative capacity may, in fact, have provided an evolutionary strategy, which in turn, helped the perpetuation of the species in question for the species perpetuation.<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Keywords<\/strong>:\u00a0 <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recalcitrant seeds, ecological strategy, successive germinations<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Em contraste \u00e0s ortodoxas, que s\u00e3o dispersas secas e frequentemente apresentam algum grau de dorm\u00eancia, as sementes recalcitrantes s\u00e3o lan\u00e7adas ao ambiente em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de germinar pronta e rapidamente, indicando que a press\u00e3o de evolu\u00e7\u00e3o ocorreu no sentido de direcionar a energia para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o vegetal. Apesar de apresentarem comportamento recalcitrante as sementes de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">parecem ter adquirido estrat\u00e9gia de propaga\u00e7\u00e3o no tempo e no espa\u00e7o diferente da desenvolvida pelas sementes ortodoxas. A germina\u00e7\u00e3o em condi\u00e7\u00f5es desfavor\u00e1veis, letal para a maioria das sementes recalcitrantes, pode resultar na morte das primeiras pl\u00e2ntulas produzidas por sementes de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, mas n\u00e3o da semente toda. Em trabalhos anteriores, sementes de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> apresentaram alta capacidade regenerativa, produzindo pl\u00e2ntulas a partir de sementes com apenas \u00bc de sua massa. Esta capacidade poderia ser entendida como uma estrat\u00e9gia para propaga\u00e7\u00e3o da esp\u00e9cie. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o potencial de sementes de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">em formar novas pl\u00e2ntulas quando as primeiras germina\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e3o eliminadas. Frutos de tr\u00eas esp\u00e9cies de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eugenia (E. candolleana, E. brasiliensis e E. involucrata) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">foram coletados e tiveram suas sementes extra\u00eddas. Estas foram caracterizadas quanto ao teor de \u00e1gua atrav\u00e9s do m\u00e9todo de estufa a 103 \u00b1 2 \u00b0C. Em seguida, instalaram-se testes de germina\u00e7\u00e3o (25\u00b0C e luz constante) para todas as esp\u00e9cies. Os tratamentos compreenderam: a) elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de primeiro e segundo desenvolvimento de acordo com o est\u00e1dio de matura\u00e7\u00e3o fisiol\u00f3gica para <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. candolleana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; b) elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de primeira e segunda germina\u00e7\u00e3o e elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de primeiro e segundo desenvolvimento em sementes intactas e fracionadas de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. brasiliensis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; c) elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de primeira, segunda e terceira germina\u00e7\u00e3o e elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de primeiro, segundo e terceiro desenvolvimento para <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E. involucrata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. As sementes das tr\u00eas esp\u00e9cies estudadas foram capazes de produzir novas ra\u00edzes e formar pl\u00e2ntulas normais, sucessivamente, mesmo ap\u00f3s remo\u00e7\u00e3o da raiz e da parte a\u00e9rea.
