Aqui descreve-se a anatomia e histoqu\u00edmica de todo o eixo vegetativo a\u00e9reo e subterr\u00e2neo de <em>D. delicata, D. tauriglossum<\/em> e <em>D. ovata<\/em> e, complementarmente, analisou-se comparativamente os compostos de reserva dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os subterr\u00e2neos espessados dessas mesmas esp\u00e9cies. Os resultados obtidos possibilitaram a separa\u00e7\u00e3o desses t\u00e1xons, bem como ampliaram o conhecimento dos compostos de reserva das plantas e seu poss\u00edvel potencial aliment\u00edcio.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Anatomia, histoqu\u00edmica e compostos de reserva de esp\u00e9cies de <em>Dioscorea L. (Dioscoreaceae)<\/em><\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Dioscoreaceae<\/em> is the most representative family of the <em>Dioscoreales<\/em> order and is characterized by a climbing habit, leaves with reticulated secondary venation, petioles with basal and apical pulvinus, and thickened underground systems. <em>Dioscorea<\/em> is the largest and most diverse genus, represented by more than 600 species in the world. Occur 141 species in Brazil, many of them with taxonomic problems that difficult the specific delimitation. There are few morphological and structural studies that provide characters capable of elucidating the taxonomic position of the genus native species. The <em>Dioscorea<\/em> economic importance is based on the consumption of the thickened underground organs, being some of them used as food source due to the high starch contents. Others are sources of substances with pharmacological and medicinal importance, being widely used as synthetic hormones, anti-inflammatories and even as oral contraceptives. Pedralli (2004) synonimized 13 taxa in <em>D. ovata<\/em>; however, later works disagreed with this and emphasized the need for studies that reevaluate this synonimization. Therefore, the aim of the present work was to characterize the vegetative aerial and subterranean organs of <em>Dioscorea delicata R. Knuth<\/em>, <em>D. tauriglossum R. Knuth<\/em> and <em>D. ovata Vell<\/em>. in order to raise diagnostic characters to help in the delimitation of these species by Pedralli (2004). In parallel, this work also aimed to quantify and comparatively analyze the reserve compounds of thickened underground organs to support studies on the food potential of these three native species. In order to do so, we used the usual techniques of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy for structural study of the vegetative organs (root, thickened underground organ, stem and leaf), the leaves diaphanization for the venation study, besides the biochemical analysis as the extraction and quantification of soluble carbohydrates, insoluble and soluble proteins according to specific methodologies of the thickened underground system. For species delimitation, relevant characters were found in the leaf (leaf blade tissue constitution, cuticle ornamentation and the petiole interphacicular parenchyma sclerification), in the stem (shape, cuticular ornamentation and trichomes), in the roots (phenolic idioblasts and pericycle with different stratifications) and thickened underground systems (raphydic idioblasts and parenchyma rays). Therefore, these structural differences found in all organs of plants show that <em>D. delicata<\/em>, <em>D. tauriglossum<\/em> and <em>D. ovata<\/em> do not constitute the same taxon, but three different taxa. In relation to the biochemical analyzes, the significant amounts of starch in the underground systems of <em>D. delicata<\/em> evidenced the food potential of this native species.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Key words:<\/strong> car\u00e1s, carbohydrates, taxonomy, vegetative organs<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Dioscoreaceae<\/em> \u00e9 a fam\u00edlia mais representativa da ordem <em>Dioscoreales<\/em> e caracteriza-se por possuir h\u00e1bito trepador, folhas com vena\u00e7\u00e3o secund\u00e1ria reticulada, pec\u00edolos com pulvinos basais e apicais e sistemas subterr\u00e2neos espessados. <em>Dioscorea<\/em> \u00e9 o maior e mais diverso g\u00eanero da fam\u00edlia, representado por mais de 600 esp\u00e9cies no mundo. No Brasil ocorrem 141 esp\u00e9cies, v\u00e1rias delas com problemas taxon\u00f4micos que dificultam a delimita\u00e7\u00e3o espec\u00edfica. S\u00e3o escassos os estudos morfol\u00f3gicos e estruturais que forne\u00e7am caracteres capazes de elucidar a posi\u00e7\u00e3o taxon\u00f4mica das esp\u00e9cies nativas deste g\u00eanero. A import\u00e2ncia econ\u00f4mica de <em>Dioscorea<\/em> baseia-se no consumo dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os subterr\u00e2neos espessados, sendo algumas esp\u00e9cies utilizadas como fonte aliment\u00edcia devido aos altos teores de amido. Outras s\u00e3o fontes de subst\u00e2ncias com import\u00e2ncia farmacol\u00f3gica e medicinal, sendo utilizadas de maneira vasta como horm\u00f4nios sint\u00e9ticos, antiinflamat\u00f3rios e at\u00e9 como contraceptivos orais. Pedralli (2004) sinonimizou 13 t\u00e1xons em <em>D. ovata<\/em>; contudo, trabalhos posteriores discordaram disso e ressaltam a necessidade de estudos que reavaliem esta sinonimiza\u00e7\u00e3o. Portanto, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi caracterizar os \u00f3rg\u00e3os vegetativos a\u00e9reos e subterr\u00e2neos de <em>Dioscorea delicata R. Knuth<\/em>, <em>D. tauriglossum R. Knuth<\/em> e <em>D. ovata Vell<\/em>. a fim de levantar caracteres diagn\u00f3sticos para auxiliar na delimita\u00e7\u00e3o dessas esp\u00e9cies sinonimizadas por Pedralli (2004). Paralelamente, este trabalho tamb\u00e9m objetivou quantificar e analisar comparativamente os compostos de reserva dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os subterr\u00e2neos espessado para subsidiar estudos sobre o potencial aliment\u00edcio dessas tr\u00eas esp\u00e9cies nativas. Para tanto, utilizaram-se t\u00e9cnicas usuais de microscopia de luz e eletr\u00f4nica de varredura para estudo estrutural dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os vegetativos (raiz, \u00f3rg\u00e3o subterr\u00e2neo espessado, caule e folha), a diafaniza\u00e7\u00e3o das folhas para o estudo da vena\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m da realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de an\u00e1lises bioqu\u00edmicas como a extra\u00e7\u00e3o e quantifica\u00e7\u00e3o de carboidratos sol\u00faveis, insol\u00faveis e prote\u00ednas sol\u00faveis de acordo com metodologias espec\u00edficas dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os subterr\u00e2neos espessados. Para a separa\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies, foram encontrados caracteres relevantes na folha (constitui\u00e7\u00e3o tecidual da l\u00e2mina foliar, ornamenta\u00e7\u00e3o da cut\u00edcula, esclerifica\u00e7\u00e3o do par\u00eanquima interfascicular do pec\u00edolo), no caule (forma, ornamenta\u00e7\u00e3o cuticular e tricomas), nas ra\u00edzes (idioblastos fen\u00f3licos e periciclo com diferentes estratifica\u00e7\u00f5es) e nos sistemas subterr\u00e2neos espessados (idioblastos raf\u00eddicos e raios parenquim\u00e1ticos). Portanto, essas diferen\u00e7as estruturais encontradas em todos os \u00f3rg\u00e3os das plantas mostram que <em>D. delicata<\/em>, <em>D. tauriglossum<\/em> e <em>D. ovata<\/em> n\u00e3o constituem um mesmo t\u00e1xon, e sim, tr\u00eas t\u00e1xons diferentes.
