Dr. Tarciso de Souza Filgueiras (IBt\/SP).<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">A rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre o h\u00e1bito e a composi\u00e7\u00e3o da parede celular de bambus nativos<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Bamboos are known for their great economic, ecological and cultural importance. Brazil is the country with the highest diversity of New World bamboo species with 89% of genera and 65% of known bamboo species distributed between the Atlantic Forest, the Cerrado and the Amazon. Plants that depend on the rigidity of their own tissues to grow invest more in supporting tissues, since species with a scandal habit, for example, demand a smaller support structure. The cell wall is primarily responsible for the mechanical properties of tissues. The general objective of this study was to describe the composition of the stem cell wall at different stages of <em>Apoclada simplex<\/em> development and to evaluate if there is a relation between the composition of polysaccharides and the habit or phylogeny of the group in six bambus species of the Bambuseae and Olyreae. Our results show that changes in cell wall composition are related to age and plant habit despite the limitations imposed by the phylogeny regarding the type of hemicellulose present. The pattern of variation of arabinoxylan structure does not match with current phylogeny, possibly due to the multifunctional characteristics of the cell wall, which is directly involved with the plant&#8217;s responses to the environment.<br \/>\n<strong>Keywords<\/strong>: Arabinoxylan, <em>Apoclada<\/em>, <em>Chusquea<\/em>, <em>Filgueirasia<\/em>, <em>Merostachys<\/em>, <em>Parodiolyra<\/em>, Poaceae, hemicellulose<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Os bambus s\u00e3o conhecidos por sua grande import\u00e2ncia econ\u00f4mica, ecol\u00f3gica e cultural. O Brasil \u00e9 o pa\u00eds com maior diversidade de esp\u00e9cies de bambu do Novo Mundo com 89% dos g\u00eaneros e 65% das esp\u00e9cies de bambus conhecidos distribu\u00eddos entre a Mata Atl\u00e2ntica, o Cerrado e a Amaz\u00f4nia.\u00a0 Plantas que dependem da rigidez dos pr\u00f3prios tecidos para crescer investem mais em tecidos de sustenta\u00e7\u00e3o, j\u00e1 esp\u00e9cies com h\u00e1bito escandente, por exemplo, demandam de menor estrutura de suporte. A parede celular \u00e9 a principal respons\u00e1vel pelas propriedades mec\u00e2nicas dos tecidos. O objetivo geral deste estudo foi descrever a composi\u00e7\u00e3o da parede celular do colmo em diferentes est\u00e1gios do desenvolvimento de <em>Apoclada simplex <\/em>e avaliar se h\u00e1 uma rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre a composi\u00e7\u00e3o de polissacar\u00eddeos com o h\u00e1bito ou com a filogenia do grupo em seis esp\u00e9cies de bambus das tribos Bambuseae e Olyreae. Nossos resultados mostram que mudan\u00e7as na composi\u00e7\u00e3o da parede celular est\u00e3o relacionadas \u00e0 idade e ao h\u00e1bito da planta apesar das limita\u00e7\u00f5es impostas pela filogenia quanto ao tipo de hemicelulose presente.
