Silvia Ribeiro de Souza.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">A\u00e7\u00e3o de indutores qu\u00edmicos (oz\u00f4nio, salicilato de metila e \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico) na composi\u00e7\u00e3o de vol\u00e1teis de <em>Croton floribundus<\/em> Spreng.<\/h3>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The plants, being sessile organisms, have developed adaptive strategies along its evolutionary process as a defense mechanism to deal with the effects caused by biotic and abiotic factors. Among these defense mechanisms, the emission of volatile mixture acts as defense responses and contributes to the ecological interactions. In this sense, this study aimed to characterize the plant volatiles by induction in young and adult leaf of <em>Croton floribundus<\/em> after exposure to ozone (O<sub>3<\/sub>) and nitric oxide (NO), compounds found in polluted atmosphere, and methyl salicylate (MeSA), which signals the chemical defense. We evaluate the potential for inducing nitric oxide and total terpenes in situ and verify if the induced volatiles are related to those who are known to be active in ecological interactions. Therefore, the study was conducted in seedlings of <em>Croton floribundus<\/em> Spreng., a Brazilian native species, and exposure to different treatments (O<sub>3<\/sub>, NO and MeSA) for seven days. After sampling of volatile organic compounds collections, histochemical tests for nitric oxide and terpenes detection were performed followed. The mean values \u200b\u200bof the emission levels of volatile after 2, 4 and 7 days of exposure did not show statistical differences. Ozone was able to induce the volatile monoterpene compounds (<em>eg.<\/em> a-pinene, b-pinene, b-ocimene), sesquiterpenes (<em>eg.<\/em>, Caryophyllene, cadinene a- alomadendrene, trans-farnesol), oxygenated (<em>eg.<\/em> Nonanal, a &#8211; cumyl), LOX products, MeSA and NO. The age of the leaves was able to interfer in volatile emission. Nitric oxide induced b-ocimene monoterpene in young leaves and sesquiterpenes b-boubureno b-cubebeno and alomadendreno in adult leaves, although the percentage of the latter has been reduced. The results show that d-limonene was NO-dependent. The MeSA was able to induce the 3- Hexen-1-ol , a compound that participates in the indirect defenses of plants, as well as mono and sesquiterpenes in young and adult leaves, although a variation in the total emission of each class was not notorious. We concluded and prove the hypothesis raised that the chemical inducers: ozone, nitric oxide and methyl salicylate, were able to induce the emission of a complex mixture of volatile organic compounds that mediates the ecological interactions.<br \/>\n<strong>Keywords:<\/strong> ozone, nitric oxide, methyl salicylate, <em>C. floribundus<\/em>, volatile organic compound<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As plantas, sendo organismos s\u00e9sseis, v\u00eam desenvolvendo estrat\u00e9gias adaptativas ao longo de seu processo evolutivo como mecanismo de defesa para lidarem com os efeitos causados por fatores bi\u00f3ticos e abi\u00f3ticos. Dentre estes mecanismos de defesa, a emiss\u00e3o de uma mistura complexa de vol\u00e1teis atua como respostas de defesa, al\u00e9m de contribu\u00edrem nas intera\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho buscou caracterizar os vol\u00e1teis de plantas emitidos, por indu\u00e7\u00e3o, em l\u00e2minas foliares jovens e adultas de <em>Croton floribundus<\/em> Spreng., esp\u00e9cie nativa brasileira, ap\u00f3s exposi\u00e7\u00e3o ao oz\u00f4nio (O<sub>3<\/sub>) e \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico (NO), compostos tipicamente presentes em atmosfera polu\u00edda, e salicilato de metila (MeSA), um semioqu\u00edmico. Ainda, avaliou-se o potencial indutor na forma\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico e terpenos totais <em>in situ<\/em> e verificou-se a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre os vol\u00e1teis induzidos, ap\u00f3s exposi\u00e7\u00f5es, e aqueles que s\u00e3o reconhecidamente atuantes nas intera\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas. Para tanto, o estudo foi conduzido em pl\u00e2ntulas de <em>Croton floribundus<\/em>, nas quais foram realizadas exposi\u00e7\u00f5es aos diferentes tratamentos (O<sub>3<\/sub>, NO e MeSA) ao longo de sete dias. Ap\u00f3s as exposi\u00e7\u00f5es, coletas de compostos org\u00e2nicos vol\u00e1teis foram realizadas seguidas de teste histoqu\u00edmico para detec\u00e7\u00e3o de terpenos e \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico. Os valores m\u00e9dios dos n\u00edveis de emiss\u00e3o dos vol\u00e1teis emitidos ap\u00f3s 2, 4 e 7 dias de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o apresentaram diferen\u00e7as estat\u00edsticas. O oz\u00f4nio foi capaz de monoterpenos tais como, a-pineno, b-pineno, b-ocimeno, sesquiterpenos tais como, cariofileno, a-cadineno alomadendreno, trans-farnesol, oxigenados, por exemplo, nonanal, a-cumil \u00e1lcool e produtos da via lipoxigenase, salicilato de metila, sendo essa indu\u00e7\u00e3o diferenciada com rela\u00e7\u00e3o a idade da folha. O \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico induziu o monoterpeno b-ocimeno nas l\u00e2minas foliares jovens e os sesquiterpenos b-boubureno, b-cubebeno e alomadendreno em l\u00e2minas foliares adultas, embora a porcentagem dessa \u00faltima tenha sido reduzida. Os resultados evidenciaram a depend\u00eancia da produ\u00e7\u00e3o do d-limoneno com a presen\u00e7a de \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico. J\u00e1 o MeSA foi capaz de induzir o 3-hexen-1-ol, composto que participa das defesas indiretas das plantas, bem como mono e sesquiterpenos em folhas jovens e adultas, embora uma varia\u00e7\u00e3o na emiss\u00e3o total de cada classe n\u00e3o tenha sido not\u00f3ria.
