Na ocasi\u00e3o os pesquisadores apresentaram trabalhos cient\u00edficos, para divulgar resultados de projetos de pesquisa do Instituto Geol\u00f3gico. A participa\u00e7\u00e3o dos pesquisadores no evento teve apoio financeiro da FAPESP (Processos 2010\/10792-3 e 2011\/10822-2).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O tema geral do evento foi \u201cRevelando o nosso Passado e Futuro\u201d, e buscou refletir o papel crucial que as geoci\u00eancias desempenham na busca de para o desenvolvimento sustent\u00e1vel e mostrar como as geoci\u00eancias, contribuem diretamente para o uso respons\u00e1vel dos recursos naturais, na melhoria da gest\u00e3o dos recursos h\u00eddricos e na mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o de riscos geol\u00f3gicos. O evento contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de 6.012 congressistas de 112 pa\u00edses diferentes, apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de mais de 3712 trabalhos orais e 1469 trabalhos p\u00f4ster, atrav\u00e9s de 220 Sess\u00f5es Cient\u00edficas com cerca de 35 simp\u00f3sios simult\u00e2neos diariamente, al\u00e9m de 05 Sess\u00f5es Plen\u00e1rias e reuni\u00f5es de neg\u00f3cios realizadas \u00e0 noite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Os trabalhos apresentados pelos pesquisadores foram:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">SALLUN, A.E.M.; SMITH, D.B.; XAVIER, B.C.; ROBERTO, C.
